Rocky Mountain Raptor Program
The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rehabilitating injured raptors and in preserving habitat for the healthy ones.
Speaking of saving birds, if you come across an injured raptor; you should contact the raptor program before taking any action. Call before touching the bird. You might hurt the bird. Even worse, raptors have sharp beaks and an attitude.
The site has information on educational and volunteer opportunites of the group. The annual benefit auction takes place at the end of February.
The Prairie Preservation Alliance is a related organization seeking to preserve habitat for the humble prairie dog. Prairie dogs are known in the raptor community as a mid-day snack. These same people in the raptor community are noted for saying: "the early bird ... is breakfast."
